This lockback knife by the late Joe Kious features a hand-rubbed satin finish blade with a nail nick and a fileworked spine. The handle showcases ivory scales, nickel silver bolsters and liners, and a fileworked stainless steel backspacer.
Joe Kious, a revered knifemaker and Knifemakers’ Guild member, passed away in 2014. Starting his full-time career in 1969, Kious was celebrated for his investment-quality interframes and bolstered folders, often fetching $10,000 or more. He is best remembered for popularizing the “Pocket Locket” style: elaborately engraved folding knives featuring a hidden, sliding panel in the handle that reveals another engraved scene. Fellow Guild member Edmund Davidson praised Kious as a “true master and genuine person,” highlighting his dedication to handmade knives, masterful artistry, and open, affable nature.
