He started his journey as a knifemaker at the remarkable age of nine and continued to produce knives throughout his life. From 1964 to 1970, he established himself as a custom knifemaker in Lubbock, Texas, crafting high-quality handmade fighting and sportsman’s knives. He even taught his “favorite knifemaker,” Enedino De Leon, who joined his company in 1969.
Beyond knifemaking, Bone also became renowned as a custom gun maker and a master engraver, a profession he pursued until his passing. His artistic talent in engraving, particularly his unique innovations and intricate Celtic designs, gained him significant recognition within the industry. Ralph Bone was widely considered among the finest master engravers the world has known, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable artistry.
