Bodacious Blades

Sherrill Shaw and Leonard Leibowitz, known as Shaw-Leibowitz, were master artisans renowned for transforming blades and firearms into art using the “lost wax” casting process. They didn’t forge the items themselves; instead, they sculpted intricate designs in wax, then cast these details in precious metals onto existing pieces. This technique created three-dimensional embellishments that became an integral part of the object, often featuring themes from nature or mythology. Their work, ranging from understated to ornate, was highly prized by collectors and even commissioned by manufacturers like W.R. Case & Sons. Though their partnership ended in 1983, Shaw-Leibowitz pieces remain sought after, valued as heirlooms and unique works of art.
