Quanah Parker was the last chief of the Comanche and a key figure during the transition from free-roaming Native life to reservation life in the late 1800s. The son of Comanche chief Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, a white settler taken captive as a child, Quanah became a fierce warrior and later a respected leader and negotiator. He played a vital role in preserving Comanche culture while adapting to the new world forced upon his people.
