Ralph Turnbull was a highly respected, award-winning figure in the custom knife community for nearly 50 years. Based out of Spring Hill, Florida, Turnbull began crafting knives in 1973, transitioning to a full-time professional maker in 1980. A proud member of the prestigious Knifemakers Guild since 1978 and a past prominent member of the Florida Knifemakers Association, he earned over 16 major industry awards throughout his career, including “Best Custom Folder.”

Turnbull was celebrated for his flawless mechanical execution, elegant “gentleman’s folder” aesthetics, and intricate spine file-work. In 1997, his international reputation was solidified when he became the first American knifemaker invited to exhibit at the legendary cutlery hub of Seki City, Japan. Following his passing in 2020, Turnbull’s meticulously crafted pieces have become highly sought-after staples on the secondary collectible market.
